Website template development has a starting price of AU$800.00, so how can we do it for free?

1. SmartSpace is developing a long term plan to deliver quality websites for low prices. To do that we need high quality designs that can be easily used as templates for the SmartSpace engine.
2. By assigning SmartSpace non-exclusive rights to offer your design to other SmartSpace customers we benefit by attracting more customers.
3. You also allow us to add more colour schemes to your basic design
4. We cannot pass these rights onto any other related or third parties
5. You get free template development, we continue to develop our service which, in turn helps you more.

Assigned Non-Exclusive Rights: What's In and What's Out

As a rule of thumb, all those elements which are held in either the template style sheet or template code generator form part of your design. Things uploaded onto the website itself by you and stored in the websites directory cannot be used by SmartSpace clients.

• These elements are considered part of your design (which can be used by others)
  • Basic sizes, proportions and layout
  • Integrated images which form part of the layout and which are held in the basic style sheet
  • This would include most (but not necessarily all) borders, shadows and outlines including tab and link images and backgrounds
  • Title, heading and text sizes and combinations
• What is not considered part of the template and unique to the original website (cannot be used by others)
  • Generally those images uploaded into the website backend and stored in the original website's album system
  • This includes all special backgrounds and borders
  • Header images and general page images
  • All images contained in the website album system
  • Any custom images held in custom style sheets uploaded by the designer
  • Specially designed content pages created in the content management backend
• To the basic framework designed by you, other clients must add their own custom graphics, images and text
  • Because of the flexibility of SmartSpace, they may choose to use totally different types of content on the website and select different or additonal widgets as part of their design

Are There Design Rules?

We want you to be as creative as possible with your website design, so there are no rules as such, however, we need to be able to delivery your clients content and services in a structured way.

If you have looked at our our portfolio, even in our early stages of development, there are a wide range of quality designs already available. We usually find ways of incorporating our tools into your design.

So far we have delivered every concept presented to us, as designed. Some designs require more custom graphics than others, but we always find a way to produce your design on a SmartSpace website.

Just remember that the SmartSpace backend can generate content from a range of categorised information and other specialist widgets. It is up to you how and where you want  display that content.
