What is a Favicon?
A favicon is a small icon which can be seen in the address bar of your internet browser which helps identify, or brand, your site. The favicon will often appear in lists of bookmarks or favourite sites.
How is a Favicon added to my SmartSpace Site?
- Create favicon and name it "favicon.ico".
- Either a 16x16px or 32x32px image is acceptable.
- Navigate to the image upload page: Content Manager > Upload Images > Browse.
- Select your previously created favicon.ico,
- Because it is a favicon, you will not need to add any more information. (It gets saved directly to the main directory of your website).
- Click Save Picture.
- You may need to clear your computer's cache before you can see the newly uploaded icon.
- If you wish to replace your favicon, simply go through the process again with a new favicon.ico,
- Your computer's cache must be completely cleared before your new icon will be visible.
Troubleshooting
- You will only be able to see your favicon when your site is using its own domain name, e.g. www.mywebpage.com.au.
- It must be a valid file with a completely lowercase name and extension.
- You cannot use a .png or .gif or any other format.
- Repeat, the full name of the file must be favicon.ico.
